Butler Grazing ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We only collect the information you choose to give us. Our enquiry form asks for your name and email address, and optionally your phone number, the state or region you are in, the type of cattle or genetics you are interested in, and the particular lot or sire you are asking about, along with the message you write. If you sign up to our interest list, we collect your name, your email address, and the category of cattle you want to hear about. Like most websites, our host also records basic technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) in standard server logs for security and reliability.

How we use it

We use your information to respond to your enquiry, discuss cattle and genetics with you, and follow up where relevant. If you have asked us to keep you posted, we also use your name and email address for that, as described below. We do not use it for unrelated purposes, and we do not sell it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. A small number of providers help us run this website and reply to you, and each one only handles what it needs for that job: Cloudflare hosts the site and serves it to your browser, Resend delivers the emails our forms send, and Google Analytics 4 and Cloudflare Web Analytics tell us how the site is being used. Each is described in more detail below. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Information sent overseas

Cloudflare, Resend and Google are all United States companies, so some of the information you give us is handled outside Australia.

When you send an enquiry, the whole of it goes through Resend, our email delivery provider, so that it can reach our inbox. That means your name, your email address, and any phone number, state or region, lot of interest and message you have written pass through Resend's systems in the United States. Resend keeps a copy of the messages sent through it and its own sending logs, so that a delivery can be traced or confirmed. Website hosting and server logs are handled on Cloudflare's global network, which includes servers outside Australia, and Google processes website usage data for Google Analytics on servers overseas, including in the United States.

We take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that these providers handle your information securely and in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you would rather your details were not handled overseas, please call us instead of using the form and we will take your enquiry over the phone.

Keeping you posted

There are two ways to ask to hear from us: the short "register your interest" form (on our holding page, and on our cattle for sale page), and the "keep me posted" tick box on the enquiry form. Both are optional, and both do the same thing. They add your name and email address to a list we keep so we can let you know when the site is live and when new bulls, breeders or weaners are listed. That is all we use the list for. There is no regular newsletter, we do not pass the list to anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising.

You can come off the list whenever you like. Email us at enquiries@butlergrazing.com.au and ask, and we will remove you.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. This website itself keeps no customer database: what you type into a form is emailed to us and is not stored on the site. Enquiries then sit in our email, and with Resend for as long as it keeps its sending records, and we retain them only as long as needed to assist you and keep sensible business records.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use this site, for example which pages are viewed and roughly which region visitors come from, so we can improve it. It sets first-party cookies (for example _ga, which lasts up to about two years) and processes this usage data on our behalf, including on servers overseas such as in the United States. By design it does not log or store your full IP address, and we have configured it so it is not used for advertising or ad personalisation; we do not sell your data. You can opt out by blocking or clearing cookies in your browser, by using private/incognito mode or your browser's tracking-protection settings, or by installing Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on on desktop.

Our host also runs its own measurement on this site, Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is switched on at Cloudflare's end rather than built into the pages, and it loads a small script from cloudflareinsights.com that reports things like which pages were viewed and how quickly they loaded. It does not set cookies, it does not follow you from one website to another, and it does not build a profile of you. Because Cloudflare is a United States company, that data is handled overseas as well. Blocking scripts or using your browser's tracking protection stops it, the same as for Google Analytics.

This site does not use advertising cookies. Our fonts are served from our own website (not a third party).

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, at any time. Contact us at enquiries@butlergrazing.com.au and we will help.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
