About: Our Family

A family operation, built over generations.

The cattle change with the seasons; the values don’t. Butler Grazing is run by family, for the long term.

Butler Grazing grew from a simple belief: that good cattle come from good country, careful breeding, and people who handle stock the right way. Today that means a purebred Wagyu seedstock program, extensive grazing, and our own backgrounding feedlot, all run by family.

We’re proud to be part of the premium Wagyu story, but our feet are firmly in the paddock. We breed cattle we’d be happy to run ourselves, and we sell genetics we stand behind.

Where we are

Our breeders run on grazing country at Rosehill, north of Gin Gin, with our backgrounding feedlot and silage at Widgewa, north of Goondiwindi, in the Billa Billa region. Around 2,000 breeders sit behind the program, grown on grass and backgrounded on-property. Genuine enquiries and on-property inspections are welcome by appointment.

The family

The people behind the cattle

Butler Grazing is a family operation. Buyers tell us they like knowing who is behind the cattle, so here we are: three people, three arms of the business, one herd.

Breeding & genetics

Theresa Butler

Theresa keeps the genetics honest, working through the DNA results and carcase feedback so every breeding decision is backed by real data, not a hunch.

Grazing & operation

Tom Butler

Tom runs the country day to day, from the breeders on grass to the way stock are handled, quietly and with an eye on the long game.

Feedlot

Will Butler

Will runs the feedlot, mixing and feeding up each day so the cattle are backgrounded evenly and grown out in good order.
